His Whole Life Is a Treasure Box (Bracelet Fundraiser)

As most of you know, Rowan was not medically cleared for his bone marrow transplant during our trip to Seattle Children's Hospital this past April.  They did not feel that his current gut health was conducive to a successful bone marrow transplant at that time.  Rowan underwent additional intestinal surgery this Summer.  We have also made several changes to his feeds and medicines since then.  Now it's almost time to return to Seattle, once again (our 4th trip in less than 2 years), for a case conference with all of the specialists he sees there, another bone marrow aspirate and biopsy, as well as a final meeting with the transplant team at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.  During this trip (in November), we hope they can finally come to a transplant decision and timeline.  Thank you for your prayers and support as we travel once again, and as these potentially life-changing decisions are made.

So many people have asked us for Rowan gear, such as “Rally for Rowan” bracelets or t-shirts.  We are working on a design for t-shirts now, but the new bracelets have arrived! Here are photos of the silver adult size wrist bands, and the gold child size, smaller wrist bands.  Rowan chose silver and gold himself.  He said the reason he wanted those colors is that his “whole life is a treasure box", so he wanted gold and silver bracelets so other people would be reminded of that too. And he said they match everything. :-)  I wear mine on my wrist and Rowan wears his on his ankle.  

 

The wrist bands say “Rally for Rowan" (with the I love you sign language sign at the beginning-Rowan makes this sign often:) and “Psalm 119:175 “Let me Live!” (with a cross at the end).  We couldn't fit the full verse: "Let me live that I may praise you”, but we wanted to include as much of it as possible.  As you know, that is what Rowan does every day of his life...he loves his life and lives to praise God for all of it!  The bands are coated and debossed.
