Seattle Children's has such great therapy programs. Rowan has been able to utilize physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, music therapy, art therapy and acupressure/massage therapy. He has been benefiting from those for months, but since waking up from the coma, these sessions have become even more important. He definitely has some catching up to do, and these lovely gals are helping us get him there slowly but surely. Here are just a few pictures of Rowan working with some of the therapists. It has been a God send. We could not do all of this by ourselves.
Sitting up and stretching with PT...
Speech therapy helping us communicate with him when he couldn't hear at all, and helping him talk and process his thoughts better now that he can hear some on his right side...
Speech and OT playing UNO with him...
PT, OT and Acupressure, stretching his worn out little body...
And of course, Music Therapy!
Here are two videos from today that will melt your heart. Thank you Evelyn!
Rowan is always happy to see these faces. He may not always be happy to comply with their requests :), especially when he is tired or not feeling well, but he truly loves seeing them. He was really tired and sore today, and kept telling the PT/OTs that he was too weak to lift his arms. Still, when they were leaving his room he said, "Take care. Sorry you didn't get to do everything you wanted to with me". So sweet.
My heart, O God, is steadfast,
my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music.
Awesome! Thanks be to God and all his children.
