Finding BigFoot...and new friends...in Oregon.

If you know Rowan, you know that one of his passions is Big Foot.  He loves to go "Squatchin" whenever we are up here in the Pacific Northwest.  Our dear friend Lorraine, knowing how long and hard the drive up here would be, surprised us by setting up one of our stays at, get this...Big Foot Bed & Breakfast in Mt. Hood, Oregon!  It sounded like so much fun, but we could not have dreamed how special our stay there would be.  It was the last night before our final leg in to Seattle, Washington and after being on the road for 4 long days already, we were really dragging by then.  We got in kind of late, and it was dark already.  The house was absolutely gorgeous, and our room perfect!  Rowan wanted to play a game of Headbands before we fell asleep, then we drifted off to sleep.

What we woke up to in the morning though, was beyond breathtaking!  We had no idea that we were on 60+ acres of beautiful land with trees for days, and the most amazing view of Mt. Hood in the distance.  What a perfect way to wake up.  I immediately told Rowan that I would move there in a heartbeat!

Rowan and I made our way downstairs to breakfast and were greeted by the kindest, sweetest, down-to-earth family you could ever meet.  Nilsa and her son, didn't just feed us a delicious breakfast, they made us feel right at home, and truly tried to get to know us.  Rowan and her son had a lot to talk about...Big Foot, theater, plays, sports, their love of Math, etc.  It was no nice to just sit and visit after so many hours in the car, just Rowan and I.  The boys seemed like two peas in a pod.  When we left, Rowan said "I wish I lived closer to him, so we could be great friends.  He's so nice!"

After they chatted for over an hour, Nilsa's son ended up presenting Rowan with a gift.  He gave Rowan his awesome Big Foot scarf.  Such a treasure for Rowan, who is excited to use it when he gets cold up here in Seattle, while he's in the hospital (where it is always freezing:).  Such a kind gesture!

We took some photos with the family, talked about Rowan's bucket list item of someday meeting Bobo from "Finding Big Foot" (whom they had actually already met!), and talked about how much we would love to come back someday for a longer visit.

After breakfast, he took us on a tour of their beautiful property, and showed us where we should go looking for Big Foot.  And we did just that after we loaded up our car.  Rowan and I walked the grounds, listened to the tranquil sounds of nature, and felt so relaxed.  It was truly just what we needed before heading off for the last leg of our long journey.

Rowan was in heaven! It was like a dreamscape for him.  He even stopped to place a rock on this little altar and said a prayer for us to make it to Seattle safely, then he said, "Thank you for letting me see all of this beauty that you created, and I know that you and your amazing son are with me every step of the way."

Next, he ventured into this amazing teepee.

We just could not get over the beauty of the house and the grounds.  I highly recommend, if you ever find yourself headed through Oregon, that you make reservations to spend at least one night and day here, at the Big Foot Bed & Breakfast.  You've just got to experience it yourself, first hand.

Thank you Nilsa and Sebastian.  Your home is gorgeous, your property a dream, but it's your hearts, kindness and generosity that truly made our stay one we will never forget!

p.s.

While we walked around the property, Rowan asked me to make a squatch call, to see if we got a response back.  I told him I was rusty, and couldn't remember exactly how to do it.  Then, just as I was about to try, we both heard a distinct squatch call from off in the distance.  Rowan's face was priceless.  And he ran the rest of the way back to the car, nervous and excited.  He said he can't wait to go back there some day, so he and Sebastian could go exploring together.  Great memory, one that will surely be brought up many times over the next several months.

Thanks again to our new friends!

For a gift he will treasure forever, and a day we will never forget!

(And we can't forget to thank Lorraine...for finding this gem B&B! You are the best.  It was a dream come true-a shining light in a truly trying time.)
