Seattle Trip Number Three...Part 3: "Super Heroes at the Museum of Flight!"

Last August, while we were in Seattle for Rowan's annual bone marrow biopsy, we had the pleasure of meeting a really great guy, named Daniel.  He served Rowan and I in the hotel lounge a few times and he and Rowan made friends quickly.  He is the one who surprised us with the tickets to the Seattle Aquarium during that stay.  Well, we have kept in touch with Daniel, and we had the pleasure of getting to hang out with him on his day off during this recent trip.

Daniel told Rowan to bring one of his favorite Super Hero costumes with him this time, so we packed Rowan's "Rocket Raccoon".  We had no idea what an amazing day Daniel had planned.  Here are some pictures from our day at the "Boeing Museum of Flight".  I highly recommend you check this place out if you are ever in Seattle.  It is not only educational, but we had so much fun too!

Rowan got all dressed up in his costume at the hotel...

The hotel staff got a kick out of his animated mask:)

and we went to meet Daniel, who was dressed as Batman!

...and off to the museum we went!

Daniel even hired a friend who was a photographer to take pictures to capture their day together.  Andy was awesome! these are just my novice pictures.  I can't wait to see his!

The Boeing Museum of Flight was huge... and very cool!

Rocket had a bit of a hard time getting his admission bracelet around his furry wrist:)

But when he did, he was ready to go...

So many cool things to see, right off the bat, in the main museum building...

The spy plane below was one of Rowan's favorites...

Rocket and Batman were a big hit around the museum too:)

And Batman really took good care of little Rocket...

While we were walking around, something cool happened.  This man stopped us to ask how Rowan was doing and what he was battling.  He noticed that he and Rowan had a lot of the same scars from brain surgeries.  He was battling brain cancer and said it helped him to see Rowan smiling and having so much fun, and that Rowan was a hero.  We wished him the best of luck as he continues his fight (which he was winning;) and he asked to take a picture with Rowan.  God bless you sir... this is a picture of two heroes, not just one...

Rowan's favorite sections were the ones you could see into, or better yet...GET into...

They made a little pit stop, into a room where they made their own planes, and flew them against each other.

(Rowan...I mean, Rocket, won most of the time of course;)

Then Rowan found the "Flight Zone", and the real fun began.  They were like two kids in a candy store, hopping from plane to helipcopter to hot air balloon.

They tried out all the cool machines that teach you about the physics of flight...

And eventually, Batman persevered...

My favorite part was the old Barn, which had amazing exhibits from the early days of flight.

After that, we went through the WWI and WWII portion of the museum.  Rowan loved this area of course...especially now that he is in the military:)

Next up, was the Museum of Flight Exhibit, across the street...equally as amazing!

The day was non-stop fun and excitement.  Truly one of the coolest museums I have ever gone to!  And I'd say the boys had a pretty good time too...

After we went out to dinner together, we took Daniel back home.  After Daniel got out of the car, Rowan said, "That was really fun, and I forgot how funny he was. I hope we get to see him next time too."

It was really fun Daniel.  And we cannot thank you and Andy enough for spending your day off with Rowan and I, showing us all these cool things, and acting like little kids too...

...it was a day neither one of us will forget:)
