You are cordially invited to Rowan's Baptism!
Who: Anyone who wants to join us for this momentous occasion!
When: Sunday, January 24th, 2016 at the 10:30 Service
Where: Live the Life Church, South Hills SA
5595 E. US Highway 87
San Antonio, Texas 78215
Why: Rowan asked me a few months ago, why he had never been baptized. I told him that he is sick so often and in and out of the hospital so much, that we had just never gotten around to it. His reply went something like this..."No offense, but that seems kind of backwards. If I got baptized we would just know that I would be fine...either way." At that moment, I promised him, he was going to be baptized as soon as possible. He asked me if he could get dunked all the way under, and I said yes, I will find a church that will do that. Then, he asked me if he could do it at Jalene's church, because that is where he saw Jesus (at her memorial service). He told me that he hoped a lot of people would come watch him get baptized, so that maybe they could see Jesus there too. Pastor Lisa at Live the Life (Jalene's church) graciously agreed to have Rowan join them for their next baptism. The first two months did not work out though. First Rowan was in Seattle for two weeks meeting with the transplant team, and then in December, he was in ICU for 10 days, so he missed his opportunity again. Thankfully, he is home now though, and we are ready to do this! When I told him this afternoon that it was confirmed for the 24th of January he was so excited. He thought for a minute, smiled and said, "OK, so I have an appointment with Jesus on the 24th! Great!" I asked him what he was most excited about, and he said "I guess just showing Jesus that I trust him with my whole life...all of it. And because maybe other people there will want to tell him the same thing. Yeah, that would be really cool too."
If you know and love Rowan, we hope you can come show your support and celebrate his desire to be baptized. He made the decision to give his life over to Jesus a long time ago, but he can't wait to truly "show" him that he trusts him, wholeheartedly.
Please message us on Facebook ("Rally for Rowan") or here on the blog ("Rowan's Story") if you are planning to attend, so we can let the Church know how many people we are expecting. They have already told us that they would be thrilled to have standing room only...or to blow the doors off the place:) Looking forward to a wonderful service, and to seeing some of you there!
I would love to attend. Your sons story has truly touched my heart. Thank you for sharing
