Sweet Jalene was laid to rest today. It was a very rainy day, but an amazingly beautiful service nonetheless.
At the end of the Church service earlier this morning, before the procession to the cemetery, Jalene's pastor called Rowan up to the altar. Rowan had something he wanted to share with everyone about last night's viewing. This precious, little 8 year old boy humbly walked up on stage and said this:
"Last night I saw a bright light coming down and I saw Jesus here. He was smiling. He was smiling because of how many people Jalene brought to him."
That's it. That's all he said, but it was all he had to say. There probably wasn't a dry eye in the room. Even the pastor had a hard time pulling herself together afterwards. But Rowan was right. Everyone in that Church last night for her viewing, or there this morning for her burial, were all there because this little girl brought them there together. She brought them to their knees before God. Her strength, faith and courage during her life came from God, and she was still trying to show people Him through her death. Just as she brought the city of San Antonio together during her battle, she brought people to Church, to Jesus, at the end of her battle. Well done, good and faithful servant.
Praying we all can see Jesus, even in the darkest of hours. Thank you Jalene for showing us that light. And thank you Rowan for sharing it with us.
