"Star-Lord" and Rowan meet in the hospital:)

Rowan got to meet Chris Pratt today at the hospital! Guardians of the Galaxy is by far one of Rowan's favorite movies of all time.  He has watched it 100 times at least.  He and Ian teamed up and dressed up as Rocket and Groot one year for Halloween, and then Ian was Star Lord for Comic Con last year too. They are both huge fans! So this was a very big deal.

As you know, Rowan has been here in the hospital for 80 days straight now, and is having a very difficult time right now.  He was set to start transplant #2 this past weekend (after the first one failed this Summer), but his chemo and radiation got postponed due to his fevers and issues with his lungs.  Over the past few days, he rarely stays awake for more than a few minutes at a time, and has only gotten out of bed when he needs to be weighed.  It has been heart breaking to watch.

Rowan was still sleeping when they came to see if we would like Chris Pratt to come into his room.  We knew he was still running fever, and that he didn't feel well, but we just had to wake him up.  Rowan fought me at first, starting to cry, upset that I was messing with him.  However, once his eyes opened up and he saw Chris walking in, he smiled from ear to ear.  What a tremendously special surprise! And what a super nice guy!

Now, I will let the pictures do the rest of the talking...

He brought some pretty amazing gifts with him, and they talked about the second movie coming out in May 2017.  Rowan made sure to get Ian a signed Star Lord and Dancing Groot too.

(They even had something for Mom:)

We all just beamed after he left, watched this short video about a dozen times, and then Rowan called Ian to tell him what just happened, and what we had for him.

Then a few hours ago we heard about this Instagram that Chris posted.  Rowan was beyond blown away that he made Star Lord's, I mean Chris Pratt's, Instagram Feed:)

Wow...all we keep saying is...Wow!

In what have been some very difficult days here in this hospital, it is once again so refreshing to be reminded that there are such great people in the world.  Stars who will take time out of their busy schedules to bring smiles to these children, are among those.  It is one of the simplest, yet amazing, gifts...the gift of your time.  It's not just a smile, a hand shake, a signature, a toy...it's faith in humanity restored.

Thank you Chris Pratt
Thank you Star-Lord

From two of your biggest fans...

Rowan and Ian Windham
